Umego ("we", "our", "us") operates the Umego mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, protect, and manage your personal information when you use our App. By using Umego, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Content you post publicly (posts, stories, profile information) is visible to other users. Private messages are only visible to conversation participants.

We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Umego or its users. This includes cooperation with law enforcement in cases involving illegal content (see Section 7).
Umego uses automated systems to detect and prevent prohibited content:

Users can report any post, message, or user profile. Reports are logged and may trigger automated review. Users can also block other users, which prevents all interaction.
Moderation actions (strikes, bans, reports) are logged with timestamps for safety and legal compliance. Relevant records may be retained where reasonably necessary to investigate reports, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Access is restricted; retention depends on the record and purpose.
The Nikah feature is available only to users aged 18 and older. It collects sensitive personal information that you voluntarily provide:

Umego lets a guardian (wali) be present in a Nikah conversation. When a wali is present:
Adding a wali is a deliberate choice. If you do not want a third person to read a conversation, do not add one to it.
Your Nikah profile and Nikah activity are kept separate from the Friends side of the app. Nikah information is not shown to people who find you on the Friends side, and your Friends activity is not shown to people who find you on Nikah. Nikah location is always shown at district level only — never a map pin and never a distance.
If you create a Marketplace listing, the following becomes visible to other users of the app:
Umego does not process payments between buyers and sellers and does not take a cut of a Marketplace sale. Arrangements for payment and handover are made directly between the two people, in chat or in person, and are outside the app. Because of that, Umego cannot reverse a Marketplace transaction or recover money — treat a Marketplace deal as you would any private sale.
Listings you delete are removed from the app. Messages you exchanged about a listing remain in your chat history until you delete them.
Random video chat connects you to another user for a live video conversation. You should assume you are being seen by a stranger.
We cannot prevent another person from recording their own screen. Do not show anything in a random video chat that you would not want kept.
Games played inside a chat store only what is needed to run and finish a match — the moves, the result, and who played. Game results are visible to the people in that chat.
Where available, Umego Premium and Nikah subscriptions are offered inside the app. Available plans, eligibility and local prices are shown before purchase. Payments are handled by the app store or payment provider you buy through — Umego never receives or stores your card number, mobile-wallet PIN or banking credentials. We receive purchase and subscription records, including transaction identifiers, the linked Umego account, the product, status, and renewal or expiry information. These support access, restoration and handling refunds or disputes.
Billing disputes, cancellations and refunds are governed by the store or provider you purchased through. Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals; it does not delete your account. Deleting a Umego account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel Apple subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.
If you earn money on Umego — through a creator page, a course, a live session or a business page — we additionally collect what is needed to pay you and to meet Bangladeshi tax and financial-record obligations:
Payout and earnings records are not shown to other users. We retain financial records for as long as the law requires, which may be longer than the retention periods described elsewhere in this policy, and this survives deletion of your account.
Umego does not show advertising and does not sell, rent or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers. There is no advertising identifier, no ad SDK and no cross-app tracking in the app.
Under GDPR, you have additional rights including the right to restrict processing, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is consent (account creation) and legitimate interest (safety and moderation).
Under CCPA, you have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and opt out of data sales. We do not sell personal information. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.
Umego’s handling of information is subject to applicable law in Bangladesh and any other law that applies to the service or user. Users must not share content that violates applicable law.

Account deletion removes the account from active use, removes profile records and owned content, and queues media cleanup with retries. Cleanup is not instantaneous. Older shared chat media with uncertain ownership requires review before removal; other participants may retain their own messages and copies. Limited backup, safety, fraud-prevention, transaction, dispute or legally required records may remain where reasonably necessary. For an Apple-linked account, the app also explains how to stop using Sign in with Apple in Apple Settings. Account deletion does not depend on completing that separate step.
The Umego mobile app does not use cookies. We do not use any third-party tracking SDKs, advertising frameworks, or analytics tools that track users across apps. We do not participate in any advertising networks.
Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States (Supabase, Cloudflare infrastructure). These transfers are protected by the service providers' data protection agreements and comply with applicable data transfer regulations.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Umego after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
